This mod is a very special companion for the main story. If you're already in the middle of the game, then it will give you a lot of information about the story and the current situation. But if you're not, then I think it will be a good idea to read the story. It's not that complicated and the information is pretty basic.
The story is about a guy named Adam and his friend Bill. They're part of the Institute, a group that is trying to get the synth races to live in peace together. But the problem is that the Institute is full of enemies that want to destroy them. And they're not going to let the Institute get the best results for the race.
So, what does the mod do?
It changes some things in the story. For example, it makes the main character die and it changes some things in the dialogue. But it also gives you the information that you need in order to finish the game.
